Kristen Stewart Covers the September Issue
Seven years after the Twilight saga wrapped for good, ex-vampire Kristen Stewart has fully moved on—becoming one of the indie-film world’s most celebrated actors, even as she returns to big-budget blockbusters in this fall’s new Charlie’s Angels reboot. Stewart’s also the cover star of Vanity Fair’s September issue, posing in a series of luxe, cutting-edge looks (including, yes, a tuxedo without a shirt) for photographer Alasdair McLellan. In the revealing accompanying profile by Durga Chew-Bose,the 29-year-old César winner opens up about her career path, her relationships—she is once again seeing her ex-girlfriend, the New Zealand–born model Stella Maxwell, who attended Stewart’s Vanity Fair shoot with her—and recovering from her time as a paparazzi punching bag: “I think I’ve grown out of this, but I used to be really frustrated that because I didn’t leap willingly into being at the center of a certain amount of attention, that it seemed like I was an asshole,” Stewart told Chew-Bose. “I am in no way rebellious. I am in no way contrarian. I just want people to like me.”
