- The idea: To require platforms to add labels reminding users that social media has not been proved safe. U.S. Surgeon General Vivek Murthy called for Congress to act yesterday.
- Why? It would help to combat a mental health emergency among teens, Murthy said. But there is no clear evidence social media causes mental health issues among young people.

- What happened? The 85-year-old actor, who played Gandalf in the Lord of the Rings films, lost his footing during a fight scene in “Player Kings” at a London theater yesterday.
- He’ll be okay: McKellen is expected to make a full recovery, the AP reported. The show is canceled tonight so that he can rest.

- Last night: The Celtics ran away from the Dallas Mavericks with a 106-88 victory in Boston, clinching the best-of-seven series 4-1. Jaylen Brown was named Finals MVP.
- What it means: The Celtics have one more title than the L.A. Lakers, their top rival. And it’s Boston’s first championship since 2008, following Finals losses in 2010 and 2022.
