Next week we will be gathering in the Irish city of Galway for the CIRCOM Regional Annual Conference. The flagship forum of regional public service broadcasters in Europe will be on 26th and 27th May 2022 in Galway, Ireland, hosted by TG4.

The theme is Creative Regions, Creative Economies and the key Conference topics are Sustainability of Journalism, Creative Regions Creative Economies, Digital Transformation, Reaching Young Audiences, PSB Prominence. So, to unleash the true potential of our community we will discuss broad variety of topics, presented by influential keynote speakers. 

Victor Pickard, who is the C. Edwin Baker Professor of Media Policy and Political Economy at the University of Pennsylvania’s Annenberg School for Communication, Razan Ibraheem, senior editorial analyst with Kinzen and Olaf Steenfadt, Head of the “Journalism Trust Initiative” at the press freedom watchdog Reporters Without Borders, RSF, will be the keynote speakers of the session Sustainability of Journalism. In focus will be the New Deal for Journalism, a proposal how to build future relations between governments and media in order to secure viable independent journalism.
John Newbigin, OBE, Ambassador for Creative Industries, Founder and first Chairman of Creative England, Irial Mac Murchú, Founder and CEO of Nemeton TV and Nicola Lyons, Production Manager with the Northern Ireland Screen Agency, will talk about the importance of audiovisual industry for the regional economies in the session Creative Regions, Creative Economies.
Sandrina Hadderingh, who is Editor-in-chief of Omroep Gelderland, the Netherlands and Matthew Barraclough, head of Local News Partnerships at the BBC, will talk about how can we as Public Service Media make local news more visible in the overall media landscape - the session is Local News.
Is it easy for our audiences to find the content we provide, also who is the content manager in today’s versatile landscape of various platforms? Kate Biggs, Ofcom UK Director in the Broadcasting and Online Content Group and Richard Burnley, EBU Director of Legal and Policy/General Counsel, EBU will be talking about PSB Prominence in a dedicated session. 
During the Digital transformation session will be an option to look into effective practices shared by Nergiz Nora Westerbergh, head of Digital, SVT News; Kristian Lindquist, Chief Strategy Officer, SVT; the journalist from Rai Alessandro Baracchini;  Mika Lavonen, who is Head of News and Current Affairs Production at Yle and István Pálffy-Orbán, the supervisor of television services at Duna Media in Hungary.
How to get to young audiences – we will listen to keynote speakers Prof. Dr. Alexandra Borchardt, senior journalist, author, lecturer, and independent media advisor, and Sophia Smith Galer, who is Senior News Reporter at Vice World News covering Europe, the Middle East and Africa and the famous Irish influencer Blindboyboatclub.
It is important to bring trustworthy information and analysis about climate change. Keynote speakers in this special session will be SVT Global Climate Correspondent Erika Bjerström, then Tara Peterman who is Executive Producer for Climate Change Coverage at RTÉ News & Current Affairs and Katy Tallon, Industry Sustainability Manager at Bafta Albert Ltd. 
The Conference will include also the Meet the Winners sessions where you can have a free chat with the authors of the best productions, who won the Prix CIRCOM Regional 2022 in their respective categories.
