Mandy, More
Mandy Moore almost didn’t make it to This Is Us. As David Canfield writes, “The teen icon and musician was coming off of years of rejection, a string of network pilots that didn’t make the cut and B movies that met critical derision and worse at the box office. She hated auditioning. She hadn’t released an album in almost a decade, despite first finding fame as a singer, and considered turning away from the entertainment industry.” But Moore did, of course, wind up joining the cast of NBC’s drama—and became an integral part of its success. Here, she speaks with Canfield about the show’s six-year journey to Tuesday’s finale, and its enormous impact on her life and career.
Elsewhere in HWD, Savannah Walsh chats with This Is Uscreator Dan Fogelman about Tuesday’s finale; Britt Hennemuth catches up with the very busy Daisy Edgar-Jones; Richard Lawson reviews Park Chan-wook’s latestfrom Cannes; and Anthony Breznican gets the scoop on Leslye Headland’s upcoming Star Wars show, which takes a novel approach to the galaxy far, far away.
