The French Dispatch: Inside Lupin
Has the French import Lupin stolen your heart? If so, you’ll be pleased to read Julie Miller’s interview with creator George Kay, who explains the origins of his crowd-pleasing heist series, starring Omar Sy as a charismatic thief. His lead actor, Kay told Miller, “is the most likable guy you’ll ever meet…. We can’t relate to the guy who can rob the Louvre without breaking a sweat unless he’s got these kind of everyday, universal problems.”
Elsewhere in HWD, Spike Lee takes a parting shot at Donald Trump in a fiery acceptance speech; Donald Liebenson lists the late Larry King’s 10 most unforgettable interviews; Jeff Wise recounts the final hours of legendary athlete and Oscar winner Kobe Bryant’s life, a year after the helicopter crash that killed Bryant, his daughter Gianna, and seven others; and Seth Rogen engages Ted Cruz in a Twitter spat that is definitely not a feud.
