On November 27, 1940, martial artist and film star Bruce Lee is born in San Francisco. Lee’s parents were from Hong Kong, and the family returned there in 1941. Lee moved back to the U.S. in 1959, enrolled at the University of Washington and opened a martial arts school. Lee appeared on some U.S. television shows, but returned to Hong Kong where he became an action movie superstar. His most popular movie, Enter the Dragon was released shortly after Lee died of brain edema in in 1973. The movie grossed over $200 million and made Lee an American icon. |
