Is Superman the ultimate immigrant? The iconic superhero was first created in 1938, a period when anti-immigrant sentiment was high in the United States. Die-hard fans at a major comic convention in San Diego say the alien from another planet represents the immigrant spirit. Superman isn’t the only superhero fans find relevant in today’s political and social climate.
