State Fair
20th Century-Fox, 1962, Color, 118 minutes, ***
Released March, 1962
This is the third 20th Century-Fox production of "State Fair" (based on the book by Phil Stong). This one is a remake of the second one, made in 1945, which uses a Rodgers and Hammerstein song score. This one isn't quite as good as the 1945 version, but it's still a lot of fun. Ann-Margret is wonderful, and it's good to see Alice Faye again after nearly 20 years away from the screen. This was Miss Faye's last musical, and her next-to-last film.
This version of the film was shot at the Texas State Fair in Dallas.
