Rules for the Balkan Music Awards

The Balkan Music Awards shall be granted on an annual basis in recognition of the achievements of musicians from all Balkan countries. The project gives a go-ahead to the Balkan Music Academy, established by Balkanika Music Television in December 2009. The Academy as an institution seeks to bring together experts in the field of music from different countries. Members of the Balkan Music Academy are composers, producers, music journalists and promoters from each of the Balkan country.



The Academy’s main purpose is to screen and identify the most successful artists and the most impressive achievements in the field of music in the Balkans over the previous year. It proposes the nominations in the categories “Best Song in the Balkans” from each and every country, as well as “Best Video in the Balkans”.



The Balkan Music Awards cover 18 categories and shall be conferred by Balkanika Music Television at an official ceremony in June 2012. The Ceremony will be broadcasted live by Balkanika Music Television and partnering national channels in all Balkan countries.



The awards shall be conferred annually in the following categories:



Best Song in the Balkans from Republic of Albania for 2011



Best Song in the Balkans from Bosnia and Herzegovina for 2011



Best Song in the Balkans from Republic of Bulgaria for 2011

Best Song in the Balkans from Republic of Croatia for 2011

Best Song in the Balkans from Republic of Greece for 2011

Best Song in the Balkans from F.Y.R. Macedonia for 2011



Best Song in the Balkans from Republic of Montenegro for 2011

Best Song in the Balkans from Romania for 2011

Best Song in the Balkans from Republic of Slovenia for 2011

Best Song in the Balkans from Republic of Serbia for 2011



Best Song in the Balkans from Republic of Turkey for 2011



Best Male Artist in the Balkans for 2011

Best Female Artist in the Balkans for 2011

Best Duet/Group in the Balkans for 2011

Best Music Video in the Balkans for 2011

Best Balkan project for 2011



Best world breakthrough of a Balkan artist 2011

Award for Exceptional Contribution to the Development of the Music from the Balkans







Rules for determining the winners in the categories “Best Song in the Balkans from Republic of Albania for 2011”, “Best Song in the Balkans from Bosnia and Herzegovina for 2011”, “Best Song in the Balkans from Republic of Bulgaria for 2011”, “Best Song in the Balkans from Republic of Croatia for 2011”, “Best Song in the Balkans from Republic of Greece for 2011”, “Best Song in the Balkans from F.Y.R. Macedonia for 2011”, “Best Song in the Balkans from Republic of Montenegro for 2011”, “Best Song in the Balkans from Romania for 2011”, “Best Song in the Balkans from Republic of Slovenia for 2011”, “Best Song in the Balkans from Republic of Serbia for 2011”, “Best Song in the Balkans from Republic of Turkey for 2011”:



Balkanika MTV nominates 10 songs from each country for the categories “Best Song in the Balkans for each and every country for 2011”. The songs should have been performed in public and commercially available in the period January 1, 2011- December 31, 2011; their music videos should have been first broadcasted by the Balkanika Music Television no later than December 31, 2011.



Each member of the Balkan Music Academy shall nominate 5 songs from the selected 10 songs from the categories “Best Song in the Balkans for each and every country for 2011” by filling in an online survey. The 5 songs, which have obtained the highest number of votes, shall be nominated for the Balkan Music Awards 2012. The members of the Academy are not obliged to vote for all the categories.



The winners in each category are selected through online voting by the fans on the website of the Balkan Music Awards www.balkanmusicawards.com in the period February 12, 2012 – Marchl 30, 2012.



All the 11 winning songs from the categories “Best song in the Balkans from each country for 2011” will be performed on stage during the Awards Ceremony in June 2012 in Sofia.



Balkanika Music Television reserves the right, in case of refusal or inability of a winning performer to present her/his song on stage during the Awarding Ceremony, to replace the cancelled performance with the runner-up from the same country.

Rules for selecting the winner in the category “Best Music Video in the Balkans for 2010”



Balkanika MTV submits 20 music videos from all the countries to the Balkan Music Academy. The academicians nominate 5 of these to compete in the category for Best Music Video 2010. The winner is selected through online voting by the fans on the website of the Balkan Music Awards www.balkanmusicawards.com in the period February 12, 2012 – March 30, 2012..









Rules for selecting the winners in the categories “Best Male Artist in the Balkans for 2011”, “Best Female Artist in the Balkans for 2011”, “Best Duet/Group in the Balkans for 2011” and “Best Balkan project for 2011”.

The Balkanika Music Television shall nominate 5 performers/groups/projects in each of the categories, based on compliance with a number of criteria:



- Airings in Balkanika Music Television



- Singles issued



- Albums issued



- Videos



- Live performances



- Press releases



- Success outside home country



- Participation in charity events



A winner is selected through online voting on the website of the Balkan Music Awards – www.balkanmusicawards.com in the period February 12, 2012 – March 30, 2012.



Rules for selecting the winners in the categories “Best world breakthrough of a Balkan artist 2011” and “Award for Exceptional Contribution to the Development of the Music from the Balkans”.

The winners in both categories are selected by the team of the Balkanika Music Television.



The Balkanika Music Television reserves the right to make corrections and amendments to the Rules, provided that It informs all participants in the Awarding Ceremony in due time by publishing the amendments on the official website of the Balkan Music Awards: www.balkanmusicawards.com
