Love and Hunger
Swoony romance isn’t necessarily what one associates with The Hunger Games. But it’s central to the first image from The Hunger Games: The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes, which V.F. debuted exclusively this morning. The photo shows charming Lucy Gray Baird (Rachel Zegler) lounging with a young Coriolanus Snow, the villain played in the original films by Donald Sutherland; here, he’s embodied by Tom Blyth, whose ice blue eyes and high cheekbones cut quite a different figure. “This is not with judgment, but Lucy Gray is the anti-Katniss,” director Francis Lawrence tells Tyler Breitfeller.“She’s a musician, she’s a performer, she’s a charmer…. Snow has never met a girl like this before.”
Elsewhere in HWD, George R.R. Martin and House of the Dragon cocreator Ryan J. Condal sit for a frank conversationwith Anthony Breznican; Anthony also previews Wednesday,Netflix’s new spin on The Addams Family; Joy Press dives into the series finale of Better Call Saul with cocreator Peter Gould; and Tara Ariano learns all the secrets of Late Nightfrom Seth Meyers himself.
