End 2020 With Some Delightful Trash
Do you yearn to retreat into a world of rich, eligible bachelors; blushing single ladies; and stodgy parties called “balls,” where men and women face each other in lines and dance awkwardly, touching as little as possible? If so, does Netflix have the show for you! Sonia Saraiya heartily recommendsthe upcoming Shonda Rhimes series Bridgerton for those aching to lose themselves in a bit of exquisite trash, populated by hot young things like Regé-Jean Page—who strolls into every scene, Saraiya writes, “with a swagger-and-pause that says, ‘Look at me: I’m wearing clothes.’”
Elsewhere in HWD, Richard Lawson is won over by George Clooney’s mournful Midnight Sky; Christopher Rosenexplains the debate brewing over how to classify Steve McQueen’s celebrated Small Axe series; Emily Kirkpatricklooks into which celebrities dominated the tabloids most this year; and V.F. looks back at our most read stories of 2020.
