The tight knit Jewish community in the Squirrel Hill neighborhood of Pittsburgh is dealing with a tragic hate crime that took 11 innocent lives. Families of four generations have lived here, gone to school here and attended temple.

ON THIS DAY IN AMERICAN HISTORY On October 29, 1998, astronaut and then Senator John Glenn returns to space, nearly 40 years after his historic flight when he became the first American to orbit Earth. Glenn was 77 when he was launched into space on Space Shuttle mission STS-95. During his nine days aboard the shuttle, Glenn conducted experiments on health problems associated with aging. Glenn, a decorated combat pilot, was among the first seven American astronauts.

India’s recent deportation of seven Rohingya men to Myanmar has triggered a panic among the country’s Rohingya Muslim refugee community. Since the seven men were deported in the past three weeks, many Rohingya refugees have gone underground in India and some others have crossed over to Bangladesh, fearing that they could be arrested, jailed or returned to Myanmar.
