"Last Kiss" was originally released by J. Frank Wilson & The Cavaliers in 1964. When Eddie Vedder discovered the song, he introduced it to the band, which added it to their setlist in 1998. At a soundcheck, they recorded the song, which was distributed to fan club members. Radio stations got a hold of it and started playing the track, goosing Pearl Jam into releasing it as a single.
