WOODY ALLEN NOT COMFORTABLE WITH STANDING OVATION

Woody Allen has been busy at the Cannes Film Festival seeing all the movies in competition, but he was not very comfortable with all the adoration at his own screening.
Spies tell us Allen has been seeing all of the international films in competition in Cannes, where he’s one of the few American directors in attendance this year.
But when his own “Irrational Man” starring Emma Stone and Joaquin Phoenix premiered on Friday night to a nearly twenty-minute standing ovation at the Cannes Palais, “Woody didn’t know what to do,” one spy said. “He wanted to get out of the theater, but they wouldn’t stop applauding. He didn’t know how to shut it down.”
Earlier on Friday, Allen gave a press conference and admitted that his upcoming, untitled Amazon series, due to come out in 2016, could be a disaster.
“I thought it would be really easy to do six half-hours,” he said, “I thought it would be a cinch. But it’s not. It’s very, very hard.”
He continued, “I’m not good at it. I don’t watch any television. I don’t know what I’m doing, I’m floundering . . . I expect this to be a cosmic embarrassment.”
