- Who? Bruhat Soma, a 12-year-old from Florida who loves basketball. He’ll receive $50,000 in cash, a commemorative medal and the Scripps Cup.
- It was a thriller: The contest ended in a spell-off for only the second time in history. Bruhat spelled a stunning 29 words correctly in just 90 seconds.
