CIRCOM's new President

The Annual Assembly unanimously elected Jean-Marc Dubois, Director of France3 Grand Est, France Televisions, the President of CIRCOM Regional. He is the National Coordinator for France.

After the election Jean-Marc Dubois said:
"It’s a great pleasure, it’s a great honour. We represent many, many millions of viewers on the linear and now also many users on the Internet. And that is a real challenge for all of us, to be on all these platforms. Times are difficult. But we are flexible, smaller than the big national TVs and we always find solutions. And I must say that CIRCOM is really operational. We are at the end of the COVID period. But something has changed in the way we are going to work together.”
Noting that it is necessary to keep the good digital practices, Jean-Marc Dubois stressed the need to continue with the CIRCOM landmark events in presence.
We have to meet again physically because we need to exchange, and we have so many challenges. So, I think we have a lot of things to do.”
After three years on the helm Jyri Kataja-Rahko stepped down as President of CIRCOM Regional. He said:

"I want to thank you all for these three years that I had the honour of serving as President. It has been quite a journey. I am very grateful and big thanks to all of you and your countries and people.”
As his last year coincided with the COVID restrictions, Jyri Kataja-Rahko reflected also on the pandemic’s impact on the association:
"It has been a challenging situation for us because we are used to meet somewhere, our people to talk together, we have great trainings. So, we had to rethink and I think we managed this situation very well. We have new ideas. And there is a new future and it’s interesting what kind of things the future will bring to the CIRCOM family”.
Jyri Kataja-Rahko stays with CIRCOM as a National Coordinator for Finland and a Member of the Executive Committee.
Programmes from Romania and Ireland won the highest Prix CIRCOM 2021 Awards
How Did I Live in a Forest... (Cum am trait intr-o padure...) from TVR Timisoara, Romania, won the Prix CIRCOM Grand Prix. The programme is the winner in the Minorities in Society category, as well. This year, for the first time, there was a Special Award of the Grand PrixImagine 2020 (Samhlú 2020), produced by TG4, Ireland became the first to win it. Imagine 2020 is the winner in the Most Original and Innovative category.

On 12 May the Winners of the Grand Prix and of the Special Award were announced in an emotional online Gala - watch the Gala HERE.

The competition in 2021 was very heated. In early May the Winners and Commended in ten categories were announced in a special online session. The full list of the awarded programmes with trailers is on the CIRCOM website.

The Prix CIRCOM Jury Report is now published and available on our website. It includes the report of the Prix CIRCOM President and reflections by the jury members on all of the 191 entries. This year the schedule of the competition was the same as in pre-COVID times, but took place entirely online. The judging was intense, but smooth. The pandemic definitely put its stamp on the content production, however the number of entries was on the same level as in 2019 when things were normal.
New member from Greece
The CIRCOM family has become bigger. We welcome our new member - Attica TV – a regional station from Greece, operating in the region of Athens. This is the second new member from Greece in less than a year. Recently we welcomed as CIRCOM member TV100, a municipal television of Thessaloniki.
New National Coordinator for the Netherlands
We welcome Klaas Geert Bakker, Editor-in-Chief of RTV Oost, as a National Coordinator for the Netherlands. We are very much looking forward to working with him. On 1 June he will take over from Marcel Oude Wesselink. Marcel retires as CEO of RTV Oost on 31 May. He is leaving his positions of a National Coordinator for the Netherlands and a Member of the CIRCOM Executive Committee. We do thank Marcel warmly and sincerely for his relentless work and we hope to see him in the future on CIRCOM events in presence.
