News journalism and the context in which it exists today will be in the focus of the
CIRCOM Annual Conference taking place on May 30-31 in Novi Sad, Vojvodina, Serbia, hosted by the Radio and Television of Vojvodina.
On May 30 we will be talking about
building audience and trust in public service regional journalism. In an environment where fake news are flourishing, we will be discussing the importance of news verification too. And yes, we will be challenging the everlasting rule “if it bleeds – it leads” by putting forward creation of positively oriented media content.
News are a turnsole for relations between media and the audiences and users.
Atte Jääskeläinen will take us through some of the key issues which media are facing now in building trustworthy bonds with audiences. Professor of Practice at LUT University and consultant in AI in media, Atte Jääskeläinen will provide some practical examples on how to improve communication between media and audiences.
Building trust is based on providing reliable and trustworthy information.
Carlo de Blasio, Vice Director of TGR-RAI Regional, will offer extensive view on the advantages and downsides of regional journalism in news verification.
The
strength of regional media derives also from its togetherness with the people who often look for solutions while getting the news. How does constructive journalism in a constructive newsroom works? Can positive thinking drive media and society forward? We will talk about it with
Anne Lagercrantz, Director of News and Current Affairs, SVT, Sweden;
Cynara Vetch, Project Lead at the Constructive Institute, Denmark and
Michael Lally, Lead Researcher at the “Constructive Journalism & Public Service Media” Centre for Creative Arts & Media in Ireland.
