Songwriter, Record Producer. He is credited with writing more than 2,000 songs, many of which went gold and platinum, recorded by legends like Frank Sinatra, Tony Bennett, Nat King Cole, Sammy Davis Jr. and the Beatles. 17 of his songs were recorded by Elvis Presley, five reached number one including Presley's hit "It's Now or Never" which stands as the best-selling international single of all time, on Billboard's 100 top pop recordings. As a producer, he founded Musicor Records in 1960 and he appears on the independent labels of more than 1,500 recordings worldwide. He produced Gene Pitney's Oscar-nominated record "Town Without Pity" (1961) and wrote the theme song for "Scooby-Doo, Where Are You!" (1969). He also helped launch the careers of acts including Roy Orbison, Jimi Hendrix, Blood Sweat & Tears, Barry White and Randy Newman.
