"MIDEM" announced Thursday that the Chinese star pianist Lang Lang will deliver a keynote at MIDEM's Visionary Monday.
For the second year at MIDEM, the event will bring together a host of forward thinkers for a day of high-octane conferences, discussions, and presentations that focus on key music industry issues.
"I'm really excited to take part in MIDEM, the most renowned music industry event in the world," said Lang Lang in a press release.
"I want to help classical music reach new markets and a broader audience. With its focus on tech, brands and artists, MIDEM is the best place to make it happen," he added.
Bruno Crolot, Music Markets Director at Reed MIDEM, said he is honored to welcome such an exceptional artist, who not only is "an outstanding musician" but also "represents an incredibly successful model for the new music ecosystem."
"MIDEM 2013 will offer a rich and complete classical experience for our participants, as illustrated by Lang Lang's keynote announcement and his presence as special guest at MIDEM VIP dinner," Crolot commented.
Recognised in 2009 by Time magazine as one of the 100 most influential people in the world and heralded by the New York Times as the "hottest artist on the classical music planet", Lang Lang will take the stage at MIDEM to discuss how talent, technology and brand partnerships have contributed in exposing his music to a broad community and audience, while disrupting the classical music world.
MIDEM, acronym for "Marché International du Disque et de l'Edition Musicale," is an annual international b2b event dedicated to the new music ecosystem, with a tradeshow, conferences, competitions, networking events and live performances. It's the place where music makers, cutting-edge technologies, brands & talents come together to enrich the passionate relationship between people & music, transform audience engagement and form new business connections.
The event is organised by Reed MIDEM, 26-29 January 2013, in Cannes, France.
