BIEBER TOPS THE UK ALBUM CHART
Canadian star Justin Bieber has topped the UK album chart, denying Cheryl Cole her third number one record.
Bieber's second album, Believe, sold just 3,000 copies more than the Cole's to claim the chart crown.
Cole suffered disappointment in the singles chart, too, where Maroon 5 knocked her song, Call My Name, off the top slot after just one week.
The US pop band sold more than 141,000 copies of their single Payphone, giving them their first UK number one.
Their previous highest-charting singles were 2007's Makes Me Wonder and 2011's Moves Like Jagger, which both made it to number two.
"It's been a long time coming," lead singer Adam Levine told BBC Radio 1. "We're so happy that people like the tune, and there are more to come."
Asked how he would celebrate, Levine said: "We're going to dance like girls."
Maroon 5's sales victory comes a week after Cole set the record for the fastest-selling single of the year so far, shifting a total of 152,000 copies in a week.
She tweeted on Sunday morning that she was in rehearsals for the video to its follow-up, Under the Sun.
Bieber, 18, rose to fame after posting songs on YouTube as a youngster. He was later signed by US R&B star Usher.
The Canadian star's second album has been praised for its mature urban sound, in comparison to the saccharine teen pop of his debut.
In the US, it is expected to sell 410,000 copies this week - the largest first-week sales of any album this year.
The final tally will be revealed when the Billboard chart is announced on Wednesday.
Other new entries in the album chart included Blown Away, by country singer Carrie Underwood, which went in at number 11; and the third album by Sheffield indie band Reverend and the Makers - which entered the chart at number 16.
US art-rock band The Smashing Pumpkins also returned to the charts for the first time in five years.
Their ninth album, Oceania, debuted at number 19.
The singles chart saw little movement this week. Apart from Maroon 5, the only other new entry was Black Heart, by Essex girl band Stooshe.
The track, co-written by former All Saints member Shaznay Lewis, went in at number four.
Paloma Faith re-entered the Top 10 with her single Picking Up the Pieces. Two weeks ago the song had dropped to number 19, but it has reversed its decline following a performance on Graham Norton's chat show.
Katy Perry's Wide Awake - the eighth and last single from her Teenage Dream album - was the week's highest climber, jumping from 31 to 12 in the same week that she released the song's video.

Poor Danny Weems is a hypochondriac. He even finds work in a medical building just to be near help should any disease suddenly strike. But then he and his friend Joe (Dana Andrews) are drafted. Danny's girlfriend Mary (Constance Dowling) decides to join up, and she convinces her best friend Virginia (Dinah Shore) to do likewise. But as they are saying goodbye to the boys onboard their ship, the ship sails and the Mary accidentally ends up a stowaway. When the ship arrives at its destination, Danny is taken prisoner by the Japanese, but manages to escape and even take a few prisoners with him. Lots of laughs from Danny Kaye and the cast in Kaye's first screen appearance.

1976, TV talent show winners from Liverpool The Real Thing were at No.1 on the UK singles chart with 'You To Me Are Everything', the group's only No.1 hit. It was the first single by a Black British band to top the UK charts. 1977, Elvis Presley made his last ever live stage appearance when he appeared at the Market Square Arena in Indianapolis. Presley would die less than two months later. The last two songs he performed were ‘Hurt’ and ‘Bridge Over Troubled Water.’ Before the show Elvis was presented with a plaque commemorating the 2 billionth record to come out of RCA’s pressing plant.

It was the only No.1 for the Boy band comprising of twins Luke & Matt Goss and Craig Logan. 1993, Gabrielle started a three-week run at No.1 on the UK singles chart with 'Dreams'. The single entered the British charts at No.2 which was the highest chart entry for a debut act. Jamiroquai started a three-week run at No.1 on the UK album chart with 'Emergency On Planet Earth'. 1999, Elton John was reported to be in talks with a City finance house to secure a £25 million ($42.5 million) loan, using his back catalogue of hits as security. It had been reported that Elton had been spending £250,000 ($425,000) a week on credit cards.
2000, Britney Spears hometown of Kentwood, Louisiana announced that a new museum, due to open early next year, would include a section including fan mail, platinum records and genuine items of the singers clothing.
2001, The Archbishop of Canterbury George Carey caused uproar among theologians after rejecting an application from a rock star for a degree course on religious grounds. Former Cockney Rebel member Andrew Brown who was now a minister of the Unitarian church wanted to complete a MA in theology but Carey had rejected his application because Brown did not belong to a mainstream church. 2003, The Sun newspaper reported that Gareth Gates's mum had moved into his flat to curb the Pop Idol star's wild behaviour. Wendy Gates was said to be furious after her son had been spotted out on a string of benders.
2005, Tickets for a forthcoming Rolling Stones gig at the Hollywood Bowl were set to become the most expensive in rock 'n' roll history. Fans would have to pay up to £249 for a seat - £2 per minute to watch the Stones.
2008, Total Guitar magazine voted Celine Dion’s rendition of the AC/DC track ‘You Shook Me All Night Long’ as the world's worst cover version ever, the magazines editor Stephen Lawson said Dion's cover was "sacrilege". In the best cover versions list, Jimi Hendrix was voted into first place with his version of the Bob Dylan song ‘All Along the Watchtower,’ The Beatles' rendition of ‘Twist and Shout’, (first recorded by the Top Notes), was in second place, followed by the Guns N' Roses version of the Wings song ‘Live and Let Die’.

The story is loosely based on the life of Molly Brown, who really did marry J.J. Brown, owner of a number of gold and silver mines in Colorado. And she really did survive the Titanic disaster. The story is basically true-to-life, though the details are certainly fictionalized. Highlights include the "Belly Up to the Bar, Boys" number by Debbie Reynolds and Ensemble and the "He's My Friend" number by most of the cast. Fun movie!

ΕΚΠΛΗΚΤΙΚΟ ΕΔΕΣΜΑΤΟΛΟΓΙΟ ΣΤΟΝ ΚΗΠΟ ΤΟΥ ΑLFREDO'S
Δεν υπαρχει περιπτωση να επισκεφθουμε τον κηπο του πολυβραβευμενου εστιατοριου ALFREDO’S του REGENCY CASINO THESSALONIKI και να μην φυγουμε αργα αργα εκθειαζοντας το εκπληκτικο εδεσματολογιο,που φετος εχει την υπογραφη του ececutive chef Αποστολου Αλτανη,που μας πλανεψε με τις εξαιρετικες μειξεις γευσεων.
Ο κηπος ηταν δροσερος,με περισσοτερα λουλουδια και αναρριχητικα φυτα ,όλα τα τραπεζια ηταν υποβλητικα φωτισμενα με έναν γλυκο διακριτικο φωτισμο,η ορχηστρα επαιζε γνωστες,δοκιμασμενες κι αειθαλεις μελωδιες, ενώ το welcome drink,η «μαργαριτα» με τον θρυμματισμενο παγο ηταν γλυκοπιοτο,όπως και τα δροσερα ποτα που ακολουθησαν.Οι σερβιτοροι ηταν συνεχως παροντες κι εκτελουσαν την μεταφορα των εδεσματων σαν ένα καλοκουρδισμενο συνολο.Και τωρα για τους ανυπομονους, το εδεσματολογιο…

*Λαμπρη πρεμιερα του εστιατοριου-beach bar MARE 66 στην Γριτσα του Λιτοχωρου.Με πολύ κοσμο από την Θεσσαλονικη και την Κατερινη που προσηλθαν για να να ευχηθουν στην οικογενεια Μπιντα «καλες δουλειες» .Ανακαινισμενος ο χωρος με τις λευκες σκηνες κατά μηκος της παραλιας θυμιζε εξωτικο προορισμο.Λευκα τραπεζομαντηλα με ασημενια κηροπηγια στα μεγαλα τραπεζια,ανετα καθιστικα σκορπια για την εξυπηρετηση των καλεσμενων,ευχαριστη μουσικη,welcome drinks και αφθονα ποτα μονο τοπικης παραγωγης για να συνοδεψουν τα ατελειωτα φαγωσιμα για τα οποια φροντισε προσωπικα η οικοδεσποινα.Ηταν μια μαγικη βραδια διπλα στην θαλασσα,που εστελνε την αυρα της στην κοσμικη δεξιωση.Δεν μπορουμε να μην αναφερουμε τον διασημο Σκοπιανο τραγουδιστη και συνθετη Martin,που ηταν παρων με τον πατερα του-και οι δυο λατρεις της Πιεριας και φιλοι της οικογενειας.
«Φλερτάρει» με την Κίνα η Θεσσαλονίκη
Πλώρη για τη μακρινή Κίνα, τη μεγαλύτερη τουριστική αγορά παγκοσμίως, έβαλε η Θεσσαλονίκη. Στο πρώτο επίσημο ταξίδι της στην κινεζική πρωτεύουσα, η Θεσσαλονίκη ως τουριστικός προορισμός, έκλεψε τις εντυπώσεις στο περίπτερο της εθνικής συμμετοχής του ΕΟΤ στη Διεθνή Τουριστική Έκθεση ΒΙΤΕ 2012 και αναπτέρωσε τις ελπίδες για άνοδο του τουριστικού ρεύματος μέσα σε συνθήκες οικονομικής κρίσης.
Από τις 15 ως τις 17 Ιουνίου στο Πεκίνο, η αντιπροσωπεία της Ένωσης Ξενοδόχων Θεσσαλονίκης με επικεφαλής τον Πρόεδρο κ. Αριστοτέλη Θωμόπουλο, τον Αντιπρόεδρο κ. Κωνσταντίνο Αλεξόπουλο και το Μέλος του Δ.Σ. κα Έβελυν Χριστοπούλου, είχε σημαντικές επαφές με tour operators και εκπροσώπους μεγάλων τουριστικών γραφείων της Κίνας, ώστε να συμπεριληφθεί η Θεσσαλονίκη στα τουριστικά πακέτα ταξιδιών με προορισμό την Ελλάδα. Ήδη είναι στα σκαριά η πρώτη συμφωνία για ενσωμάτωση της Θεσσαλονίκης σε δεκαήμερο τουριστικό πακέτο που αναμένεται να προσελκύσει μεγάλο αριθμό Κινέζων τουριστών. Η Ένωση Ξενοδόχων Θεσσαλονίκης συμμετείχε στη ΒΙΤΕ 2012 σε συνεργασία με τον Οργανισμό Τουρισμού Θεσσαλονίκης, ο οποίος εκπροσωπήθηκε από τον Γενικό Διευθυντή του κ. Νίκο Σαπουντζή.
Η στρατηγική της Ένωσης Ξενοδόχων Θεσσαλονίκης εστιάζει στα ανοίγματα σε νέες ελπιδοφόρες αγορές, όπως είναι η Κίνα, οι οποίες μπορούν να συμβάλουν καθοριστικά στην τόνωση της τοπικής οικονομίας. Το προφίλ των Κινέζων τουριστών εναρμονίζεται με αυτό της Θεσσαλονίκης, καθώς εκείνο που προτάσσουν είναι οι επισκέψεις σε αστικούς κυρίως προορισμούς με μακραίωνη ιστορία και πολιτισμό. Οι Κινέζοι τουρίστες είναι επισκέπτες υψηλού εισοδήματος, λάτρεις της ιστορίας και δείχνουν ιδιαίτερο ενδιαφέρον να γνωρίσουν από κοντά το λίκνο του δυτικού πολιτισμού. Σύμφωνα με εκθέσεις τουριστικών οργανισμών, οι Κινέζοι τουρίστες αναμένεται να φθάσουν τα 100 εκατομμύρια ως το 2020, κατακλύζοντας κυριολεκτικά τον παγκόσμιο τουριστικό χάρτη με τις εθνικότητες.
Πέρυσι, καταγράφηκαν 3.156 διανυκτερεύσεις Κινέζων τουριστών στα ξενοδοχεία της Θεσσαλονίκης, κατατάσσοντάς τους στην 32η θέση. Τα σχέδια της Ένωσης Ξενοδόχων και του Οργανισμού Τουρισμού για προσέλκυση τουριστών από την Κίνα περιλαμβάνουν την πραγματοποίηση fam / press trips με σκοπό τη φιλοξενία και την ξενάγηση τουριστικών πρακτόρων και δημοσιογράφων, ώστε να διαφημίσουν την πόλη και τις ομορφιές της στη χώρα τους. Ένα άλλο στοιχείο που επισημάνθηκε στις επαφές με τους επαγγελματίες του τουρισμού της Κίνας, είναι η εύκολη πρόσβαση της Θεσσαλονίκης με συχνές αεροπορικές συνδέσεις μέσω Κωνσταντινούπολης.
Η οικονομική ανάπτυξη της Κίνας αναμένεται τα επόμενα χρόνια να τροφοδοτήσει με σημαντικό αριθμό τουριστών την παγκόσμια αγορά και η Θεσσαλονίκη δεν μπορεί να είναι ουραγός, αλλά χρειάζεται να εντείνει τις προσπάθειες για να κατακτήσει το κομμάτι της τουριστικής «πίτας» που της αναλογεί.

Η οικονομική ανάπτυξη της Κίνας αναμένεται τα επόμενα χρόνια να τροφοδοτήσει με σημαντικό αριθμό τουριστών την παγκόσμια αγορά και η Θεσσαλονίκη δεν μπορεί να είναι ουραγός, αλλά χρειάζεται να εντείνει τις προσπάθειες για να κατακτήσει το κομμάτι της τουριστικής «πίτας» που της αναλογεί.
Νέο εταιρικό site από τον Ε.Ο.Τ.
Ολοκληρώθηκε η κατασκευή της νέας, πλήρως ανανεωμένης, εταιρικής ιστοσελίδας του Ελληνικού Οργανισμού Τουρισμού (www.gnto.gov.gr). Η ιστοσελίδα δημιουργήθηκε από την εταιρεία Google με τη συνεργασία ειδικής ομάδας του Ε.Ο.Τ., στο πλαίσιο της Στρατηγικής Συνεργασίας των δύο πλευρών, χωρίς επιπλέον οικονομική επιβάρυνση για τον Οργανισμό.
Στο νέο site του Ε.Ο.Τ., οι ενδιαφερόμενοι μπορούν να βρουν:
- πληροφορίες για τον Οργανισμό και τη δομή του, καθώς και στοιχεία για τις υπηρεσίες του τόσο σε ολόκληρη την Ελλάδα (Περιφερειακές Υπηρεσίες Τουρισμού) όσο και στο εξωτερικό,
- τη νομοθεσία σχετικά με την τουριστική αγορά, τις διαδικασίες έκδοσης ειδικών σημάτων λειτουργίας, τα δικαιολογητικά με σκοπό την απλούστευση των διαδικασιών και τα κριτήρια κατάταξης καταλυμάτων,
- στατιστικά στοιχεία και μελέτες για το ελληνικό τουριστικό προϊόν
- αναλυτική παρουσίαση των ενεργειών και των δράσεων του Ε.Ο.Τ. για την προβολή της Ελλάδας στο εξωτερικό (τουριστικές εκθέσεις, διοργάνωση workshops και ταξιδίων εξοικείωσης κ.ά.),

His 1956 Fender Stratocaster named Brownie, which was used to record the electric version of ‘Layla’, sold for a record $497,500. 2003, A man who had been deported from Sweden for stalking Abba singer Agnetha Faeltskog was arrested near the singer's island retreat. Gert van der Graaf, 37, had been the singer's boyfriend from 1997 to 1999, but had been issued a restraining order barring him from seeing or talking to her in 2000. 2004, A Fender Stratocaster that Eric Clapton nicknamed 'Blackie' sold at a Christie's auction for $959,500 (£564,412) in New York, making it the most expensive guitar in the world. The proceeds of the sale went towards Clapton's Crossroads addiction clinic, which he founded in 1998. 2005, The Thrills, The Zutons, Doves, The Killers, White Stripes, Kaiser Chiefs, Ash, The Coral, Keane, New Order, Coldplay, James Blunt, Brian Wilson, Garbage, Primal Scream and Basement Jaxx all appeared at this years UK Glastonbury Festival.
