A Wonderful Night for Oscar |
Two years after the Oscars handed trophies to Daniel Kaluuya and Frances McDormand in a train station—and one year after the entire night was hijacked by one very unscripted moment—the Oscars got back to basics. “It was heartening to see the Oscars eschew all the needless experimentation of recent years and go the traditional route,” writes Richard Lawson. “Most crucially—for me, a crackpot, anyway—there were more than two steps up to the stage. It is my strongly held belief that last year’s slap would not have happened had Will Smith had to climb some actual stairs to get on the stage.” |
