Actress. Born in Rome, Italy, she a dancer and a beauty queen and was crowned Miss Italia in 1947. This led to a contract in films and she achieved notable success in "Bitter Rice" (1949). She continued working in films for almost four more decades with credits to include "Ulysses" (1954), "The Tempest" (1958), "A Branded Woman" (1960), "Barabbas" (1962), "Oedipus Rex" (1967), "The Decameron" (1970), "For Love One Dies" (1972), "Dune" (1984) and "Black Eyes" (1987). She was married to film director Dino De Laurentis from 1949 until her death.
