NCIS IS NUMBER ONE IN THE USA RATINGS

A potent one-two punch of "NCIS" and spinoff "NCIS: Los Angeles" were enough to give CBS a win Tuesday in the primetime ratings race.
Mark Harmon starrer "NCIS" earned a 3.8 rating/12 share in the 18-49 demo, with 19.1 million viewers tuning, according to early Nielsen estimates. Both the demo and the audience were best among all programs for the night.

Second best was "NCIS: Los Angeles" (3.2/9, 16.4m). Both shows were about even with their last original episodes, each of which aired March 1.

CBS' domination was evident across the board. The Eye's total audience was more than double any two of the other networks combined.

Behind a two-hour "The Biggest Loser," NBC came in second. The weight-loss reality skein drew a 3.0/9, and an overall aud of 8.1 million. The demo was a slight improvement over last week's episode and continues to be -- now in its 11th cycle -- one of the Peacock's top shows.

With "Detroit 1-8-7" finished for the season (and likely for good), ABC saw improved traction in the 9-11 p.m. slot with a special "Best in Film: The Greatest Movies of Our Time." Two-hour program earned a 1.8/5, with 7.1 million viewers, certainly better that what the cop drama would've performed in the 10 o'clock timeslot.

"Best in Film" gained viewers from the "No Ordinary Family" (1.5/5, 5.3m) lead-in, which began the night for the Alphabet.

Fox offered nothing but reruns: "Glee" (1.9/6, 5.2m), "Raising Hope" (1.5/4, 4.1m) and "Traffic Light (1.1/3, 2.7m)," as the latter comedy remains on the bubble for a possible second-season pickup.

In what is always a tight contest at 10 p.m. clearly wasn't this time around. CBS' "The Good Wife" (2.1/6, 11.6m) defeated NBC's "Parenthood" because the TV adaptation of Ron Howard's bigscreen film was in rerun mode and generated a meager 1.1/3, 3m.

Also offering repeats was the CW. Both "One Tree Hill" and "Hellcats" earned an 0.3/1.

Preliminary 18-49 averages for the night: CBS, 3.0/9; NBC, 2.4/7; ABC, 1.7/5; Fox, 1.6/5; Univision, 1.6/5; CW, 0.3/1.

In total viewers: CBS, 15.7; ABC, 6.5 million; NBC, 6.4 million; Fox, 4.3 million; Univision, 4.1 million; CW, 770,000.
