Now let’s catch up from the weekend. Protests against immigration raids swept Los Angeles this weekend. What to know: Federal raids (including this one Friday) sparked protests around the city. President Donald Trump sent in the National Guard — that alarmed legal experts. The latest: Gov. Gavin Newsom (D) threatened to sue the Trump administration. And police fired tear gas at protestersnear a federal building that houses a detention center. Read this story          Trump’s new travel ban took effect this morning. The details: The ban (mapped here) blocks travelers from 12 countries and partially restricts those from another seven. There are exceptions, including for Olympic athletes. This week: Trump will get the military parade he always wanted, but tanks are hitting D.C. with a fresh bit of controversy. And the U.S. is holding trade talks with China. The data: The share of mothers who self-reported their mental health as fair or poor rose from 5.5% in 2016 to 8.5% in 2023. Those reporting excellent mental health declined by 12%.
