Is Jennifer Lopez Oscar-Bound?
Jennifer Lopez might follow her scene-stealing turn in Hustlers by strutting all the way to the Academy Awards—at least, if the excitement out of the Toronto International Film Festival holds. Julie Miller reports that the event was all abuzz about Lopez’s confident turn as a stripper turned scam mastermind: “The line for the premiere’s after-party snaked around a Toronto city block and was stuffed with festivalgoers gushing that Lopez should get ‘all the awards,’” she writes. “On Sunday, inside the InterContinental hotel, a sharp-suited male walking with Sarah Paulson was overheard telling the actor, ‘Hustlersis my Citizen Kane.’ By Monday word had spread even outside the festival’s perimeter: Several miles north of the 2019 TIFF activity, a Toronto local working at a pharmacy told her coworker that she had heard Hustlers was ‘amazing. I heard J. Lo could win an Oscar.’” Lopez, meanwhile, is already getting verklempt over the idea of being recognized by the Academy: “I’ve just been working hard for so long, for my whole life,” she recently toldHoda Kotb, choking up. “Sorry, you guys know that I’m emotional!”
