MR AND MRS MICHAEL BUBLE

SKYPE HELPS THE BUBLE MARRIAGE

As is the case for a lot of long distance couples, Michael Bublé and his wife, 25-year-old model/actress Luisana Loreley Lopilato de la Torre, rely on technology to keep the home fires burning while he's on the road for months at a time.

Lately, they've been staying in touch with "a lot of Skype dates," the Canadian singer told "Entertainment Tonight Canada."

"I miss her, though," the 36-year-old admitted. "So it's just been nuts. She's been going back and forth."

Bublé also talked about the gifts they exchanged on their first wedding anniversary back in March, adding that his wife’s gesture definitely topped his.

"I recorded a song for her and a video," he said, but she gave him a book that held "every note, every love note, every ticket – everything we've done ... She saved everything. It was very sweet."

So will Luisana soon be putting together a baby book?

It’s possible - Bublé has been talking about wanting kids since he met his leading lady.

"I've said to [Luisana] a million times I'd love to have kids," the crooner told "ET Canada" last year. "But I always say to her when you're ready – when you feel like you've lived and you've partied and done all the things you want to do. When you've worked your butt off, then tell me."

Right now it looks like Bublé's bride might be too busy modeling: ABC News reports the lingerie company Ultimo recently brought the Argentine entertainer to London to pose for its new campaign.

DYLAN WITH PRESIDENT OBAMA

DYLAN GETS MEDAL OF FREEDOM

President Barack Obama has bestowed the nation's highest civilian honour on political and cultural figures in a ceremony at the White House.

Musician Bob Dylan, astronaut John Glenn, and Israeli President Shimon Peres were among the Medal of Freedom recipients.

The award is given to people from all walks of life who have made exceptional contributions to society.

It was established by former President John F Kennedy in 1963.

Dylan was born Robert Allen Zimmerman on 24 May 1941 and began his musical career in 1959, playing in Minnesota coffee houses.

He took his stage name from the poet Dylan Thomas and, not coincidentally, paid as much attention to his lyrics as his music.

Much of his best-known work dates from the 1960s, when he became an informal historian of America's troubles.

Songs such as Blowin' In The Wind and The Times They Are a-Changin' became anthems of the anti-war and civil rights movements.

His move away from traditional folk songwriting, paired with a controversial decision to "go electric", proved equally influential - his confessional, introspective lyrics were undoubtedly absorbed by The Beatles in their later work.

He continues to record and tour, expanding his horizons with a US radio show and a recently signed six-book publishing deal.

'Beloved'

Another luminary to be awarded the honour, Toni Morrison, is renowned for her portrayal of the African-American experience in novels such as Song Of Solomon, and Beloved, which won the Pulitzer Prize in 1988.

Born Chloe Anthony Wofford in 1931 in Ohio, she went on to become a senior editor at publishers Random House before pursuing her writing career.

Toni Morrison was honoured for her contribution to American fiction Outside of novels, she has written literary criticism and even lyrics for operas, including Honey and Rue, with music by Andre Previn.

Once asked by a student who she wrote for, Morrison replied: "I want to write for people like me, which is to say black people, curious people, demanding people...

"People who can't be faked, people who don't need to be patronised, people who have very, very high criteria."

The 13 people awarded the Medal of Freedom at Tuesday's ceremony in the East Room of the White House included:

Madeleine Albright, secretary of state from 1997 to 2001 and the first woman to hold that post
John Doar, assistant attorney general in charge of civil rights at the Department of Justice during the 1960s
William Foege, physician and former director of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, who led the campaign to eradicate smallpox
Gordon Hirabayashi, who fought the internment of Japanese-Americans during World War II and died in January
Dolores Huerta, community activist and co-founder of the National Farmworkers Association in 1962
Jan Karski, officer in the Polish Underground in World War II and later a professor at Georgetown University's School of Foreign Service, who died in 2000
Juliette Gordon Low, founder of the Girl Scouts in 1912, who died in 1927
John Paul Stevens, associate justice of the US Supreme Court from 1975 to 2010
Pat Summitt, basketball coach who has won more games than any other coach, and spokeswoman against Alzheimer's disease
Previous honourees include Mother Teresa, Margaret Thatcher, Stephen Hawking, Walt Disney, Doris Day, Duke Ellington and Aretha Franklin.

Elvis Presley crypt to be sold in memorabilia auction

The private mausoleum crypt in Memphis, Tennessee in which Elvis Presley was first buried is to be sold at auction.

The lot includes the crypt itself, the right to open and close the vault for a burial, a memorial inscription and the use of a small chapel for a service.

Bids are expected to start at $100,000 (£63,781).

Other items in the sale, to be held on 23 and 24 June in Hollywood, include clothing worn by the guitarist Keith Richards and the late Amy Winehouse.

Following Presley's funeral at his Graceland home in August 1977, his body was temporarily entombed in a crypt at Forest Hill Cemetery.

Around 80,000 people lined the processional route that Presley's coffin took from Graceland to Forest Hill.

Within two months, both his body and that of his mother Gladys were moved to a permanent site in the meditation garden on the Graceland grounds.

According to the Julien's Auctions website, Presley's original crypt "has remained empty... as a visiting place for those coming to remember The King".

The Sports Legends and Music Icons sale will be held at Julien's auction house in Beverly Hills on 23 and 24 June.

Other lots include a robe Winehouse used in her Rehab video and a ripped T-shirt worn by Richards while playing for the Rolling Stones.

THE DICKEY BIRD SONG

Three Daring Daughters

Three Daring Daughters
MGM, 1948, Color, 115 minutes, ***½
Released February, 1948

Jane Powell, Ann Todd and Mary Eleanor Donahue are the daughters of Jeanette MacDonald, who is divorced from her reporter husband. The girls are determined to get their parents together again, but when Jeanette goes on a getaway steamship cruise, she falls in love and marries Jose Iturbi. In the meantime, the girls have visited newspaper magnate Edward Arnold and persuaded him to bring their father home.

When Jeanette returns home with new hubby, she is angry at the girls for interfering, and she persuades Arnold to not bring her ex-husband home. But, the girls will not accept their new father and convince Arnold (once again) to bring their father home. Poor Arnold is exasperated and poor Mr. Morgan spends the entire movie onboard a steamship dashing all over the world, and never does show up! Anyway, the girls finally accept Iturbi and everyone lives happily ever after.

Really cute film! Musical highlights include: "The Dickey Bird Song" "Route 66" and Jeanette and Jane's wonderful duet of "Springtide."

Guiseppe Della Camera, had spent ten years restoring the rusting van to perfection after he spotted it on a farm - being used as a chicken shed. The restoration was such a success Sir Mick offered to buy the vehicle when he saw it at a show on Wandsworth Common. Camera said, 'Jagger told me he'd really fallen in love with my van and asked me if I would consider selling it. I was stunned when he offered me £100,000. 2009, An oil painting depicting Madonna in the nude with her ex-husband Guy Ritchie failed to meet the reserve price of £15,000 at auction in Glasgow. Scottish artist Peter Howson had produced several portraits of the pop icon in a state of undress. 2009, Ozzy Osbourne was suing the band's guitarist Tony Iommi over royalty payments. The 60-year-old had accused Iommi of falsely claiming to have sole rights to the band's name which has cost him royalties from merchandise sales. Osbourne was seeking unspecified damages, lost profits and a declaration he is a half-owner of the trademark. Iommi claims Osbourne legally relinquished rights to the band's name in the 1980s.

Bee Gees re-enter UK album chart

Two albums by The Bee Gees have entered the UK Top 40 album chart, a week after singer Robin Gibb's death.

The compilation album, Number Ones, was the highest re-entry in the UK Official Album chart at number five.

Ultimate Bee Gees, which was released to coincide with the band's 50th anniversary in 2009, reappeared at number 35.

Robin Gibb died on Sunday, 20 May, after losing his battle with cancer. He was 62.

In the singles chart, American indie-pop trio Fun. repeated their US chart success by moving up one place to number one with We Are Young.

Featuring Janelle Monae, the New Yorkers' smash hit held off competition from British boyband, The Wanted, whose new single Chasing The Sun debuted at number two.

We Are Young claimed the top spot in its seventh week on the chart, despite having dropped to number five a fortnight ago.

Fun. (the full stop is part of their name) are also celebrating top ten album success with Some Nights, which debuted at number seven.

In a relatively quiet week for new releases, Emile Sande reclaimed the number one album with her debut, Our Version of Events; while US rocker Joe Bonamassa entered at number two with Driving Towards The Daylight.

Other new entries included US blues-rock singer John Mayer, whose album Born and Raised charted at number four; and Sir Tom Jones who debuted at number seven with his new album Spirit In The Room, which features covers of songs by the likes of Blind Willie Johnson and Sir Paul McCartney.

Elsewhere in the singles chart, Canadian singer Carly Rae Jepson remained at number three, while 21-year-old Rita Ora and former estate agent Alex Clare dropped to number four and number five respectively.

Paloma Faith scored her first top ten single with Picking Up The Pieces which went in at number seven

Men in Black 3 beats Avengers

Men In Black 3, the return of Will Smith's movie franchise, knocked the comic superheroes off the top of the North American box office chart.

The action movie made $55m (£35m) over the Memorial Day holiday weekend, according to studio estimates.

The Avengers slipped to second with $37m (£24m). But it has become only the fourth film to take more than $500m (£319m) in total in the US and Canada.

The Avengers has now earned $514m (£328m) - behind only Avatar, Titanic and The Dark Knight in the all-time North American rankings.

The Marvel movie spent three weeks at the top of the weekly chart, but has now been overtaken by the first Men In Black film for 10 years.

Men in Black 3 sees the return of Smith's Agent J and Tommy Lee Jones' Agent K as they battle a new alien enemy that travels four decades back in time to get rid of the younger Agent K - played by Josh Brolin.

Board game adaptation Battleship, which stars singer Rihanna, was at number three in its second week of release, taking $10.8m (£6.9m).

Sacha Baron Cohen's comedy The Dictator took $9.6m (£6.1m) to finish fourth in its second weekend on the chart.

Horror film Chernobyl Diaries debuted at number five with $8m (£5m).

Overall, domestic takings for the four-day Memorial Day weekend are likely to come in well behind last year's record of $276m (£175m).

THOROUGHLY MODERN MILLIE trailer

Thoroughly Modern Millie

Thoroughly Modern Millie
Universal, 1967, Color, 138 minutes, ***
Released March, 1967

Julie Andrews is Thoroughly Modern Millie and Mary Tyler Moore is her best friend. Millie gets a job as an office girl for Trevor Graydon (John Gavin); her ambition is to marry her boss. But Jimmy Smith (James Fox) has other ideas about who she's going to marry.

Julie and MTM nearly become victims of a white-slave scam being perpetrated by their building manager (Beatrice Lillie) and all kinds of antics take place. Good fun with many hidden references to many films from the 1920s. A lot of the fun is looking for these little gems! Carol Channing runs off with every scene she's in, and does a wonderful rendition of "Jazz Baby."

'Men in Black 3' has a winning plan

When last seen, Agents J (Will Smith) and K (Tommy Lee Jones) were...well, can anyone remember what the Men in Black were doing a decade ago in "Men in Black II"?

Aside, that is, from keeping the peace on Earth between humans and aliens, waving neuralizers around to wipe out people's memories, and bickering in the way of odd-couple partners in comedies? With so many movie extraterrestrials to keep track of over the past 10 years, even a studious "MIB" fan can be excused for feeling a bit neuralized too. Among the many pleasures of "Men in Black 3" (available in hip-and-happening 3-D) is the nimble efficiency with which the movie reestablishes the old "MIB" conventions -- all those fabulously ornate Rick Baker-designed creatures, all that Jones crustiness and Smith slickness -- and then just as gracefully finds something new to do with the boys and their Ray-Bans.

To move forward, the story jumps backwards -- to the summer of 1969, when the Mets were destined to win the World Series and astronauts were preparing to walk on the moon. The first time 1969 came around, K put the Mad Max-ish alien known as Boris the Animal (a tasty role for "Flight of the Conchords'" Jemaine Clement) in prison.

Now, some 40 years later, Boris has busted out of the clink -- on the moon, by the way -- and slipped through the space-time continuum back to 1969, intent on killing K. So MIB's present-day chief, O (Emma Thompson), dispatches Agent J to do a quick job of tinkering with history, safeguarding the world, and rescuing his partner, all without getting trapped in 1969 for good.

Will Smith slaps guy moving in for kiss This is a winning plan for a lot of reasons, beginning with the axiom that, as the crew of the USS Enterprise demonstrated in "Star Trek IV: The Voyage Home" back in ancient 1986, it's always fun when fancy folks from the sci-fi future are forced to fumble with the less elegant technology of the past. Working with a model screenplay by Etan Cohen (who co-wrote the brilliant "Tropic Thunder"), "MIB's" auteur director Barry Sonnenfeld captures the nostalgic hopefulness of the era.

But most of all, "MIB3" is one giant leap for mankind because Josh Brolin shows up to play the younger Agent K. And he just nails the feat, triumphantly creating a riff on/homage to the Tommy Lee Jones-ness of K that goes much deeper (and funnier) than a simple imitation of drawl and speech patterns. Brolin conjures up a man in full, just as taciturn but not nearly as closed as the craggy puss he is when Jones does the squinting.

It's a great performance, one for the thespian yearbook. And, as happens in the best of cases, Brolin raises his costar's game. For an African-American Hollywood superstar like Smith, marching his character backwards to 1969 presents unique opportunities for social commentary on changing perceptions of American black men. Smith makes big statements with the most casual and charming of reactions and line readings.

Sonnenfeld and Cohen move their baby along with an integrity and gait that ought to serve as a blueprint for other filmmakers faced with the particular challenges of reviving big-ticket and time-dated hunks of pop culture. Amid the mayhem, the movie is sophisticated enough to note the family resemblance between Rick Baker-stitched aliens and the human creatures who populated Andy Warhol's Factory in the downtown Manhattan of 1969.

And even while Brolin's K is embroiled in a high-tension climactic showdown with Boris -- at Cape Canaveral, on the day the Apollo 11 crew blasted off for the moon -- there's air and space enough in the movie to evoke the real awe of that day, that time. The film isn't afraid of emotional truth. Which is why, in the end, "Men in Black 3" would be nothing without the participation of the alien called Griffin.

Played with melting sweetness by the wonderful Michael Stuhlbarg, Griffin has the gift -- and curse -- of seeing the future, or, more specifically, seeing multiple, equally possible futures, some swell and some less so. Griffin's eyes are a misty blue, and he wears a little wool hat and a perpetual worried smile. He's gentle and patient and he wishes the best for humankind, but he can't guarantee it. Likewise, there was no guarantee that after so long an absence, there would be anything fresh to say about "Men in Black."
